Project overview

This art deco heritage listed Potts Point property comprises 63 units over eight levels. Fire Safety Constructions were awarded the project by competitive tender through heritage architects Rod Howard & Associates Pty Ltd. The project was then staged to span the $2M+ value of work over an 18 month period.

Stage 1 of this fire safety upgrade project involved new fire doors, smoke detection system to units, partial completion of the hydrant system, unit compartmentation and reconfiguration of the basement laundry and pump room.

Stage 2 commenced in August 2005 and involved completion of the smoke alarm/detection system, completion of the hydrant system, a sprinkler system throughout all units, rewiring throughout, fire doors and fire rating of penetrations. Associated building works included refurbishment of the lobby, new corridor ceilings, enclosure of pipework within units, new intercom/TV/phone systems, painting throughout and new carpet.

The project was delivered within the original budget constraints and all aspects of the works were sensitive to the heritage significance of the building.
