Project Overview

The fire safety upgrade works to this large residential complex within the heart of Auburn was appointed to Fire Safety Constructions (FSC) in late 2015. The works resulted from an order from the Land and Environment Court and affect all 5 buildings, over 500 units. Fire Safety Constructions has been involved in works to 4 of the 5 buildings, with an expected cost of $2m over 18 months.

We have engaged BM+G (Blackett Maguire + Goldsmith) to act as a 3rd party certifier and provide finalisation letter to Council. This involves consideration of some alternative construction methods and solutions to provide added value to the owners.

As is typical with fire safety upgrades, the buildings are fully occupied and our work includes access to units, working in with residents and leaving “no footprints”.

The below photos show what the fire safety upgrade works within 62-72 Queen St, Auburn involves.

Fire safety measures

  • Fire stopping works to bounding walls of units and common areas
  • Rectify service penetrations throughout (e.g. PVC pipes, electrical conduits, ductwork)
  • Fire doors
  • Stair treads
  • Fire dampers
